However, a prophecy inscribed on the sacred walls of the guardians' sanctum—those who oversee the gate to the mermaid world and mediate disputes among kingdoms not subordinate to the largest mermaid empire—spoke of a day when a prince would emerge who would destroy the gate between the ancient and modern mermaid worlds.
